AfroGlitz

African Art has largely inspired numerous artists, architects and painters in the 20's notably Picasso and Modigliani to name a few. This influence (but not only) has allowed Europe and later on America to move towards a design style that became epitome of chic in the 1920’s and 1930's.

What is AfroGlitz Interior Design?

AfroGlitz is a variation of the conventional Art Déco Style that has been seen up to now. AfroGlitz instantly evokes abundance; elegance, glamor and luxury. Common motifs are geometrical patterns, stepped forms, sweeping curves, zigzag patterns, triangular shapes, and animal prints.

"Splendor, Glitz, and Luxurious Décor are what defines AfroGlitz. "

How to define AfroGlitz?

  • OPULENT MATERIALS

Luxurious materials used in Art Déco style have always exuded glitz and glamour. Plenty of metallics are present in this style; from gold to silver, stainless steel, and chromethey all can be seen in AfroGlitz interior and furniture design areas.

  • BOLD COLOR

Think bright and deep yellows, reds, blues, greens, pinks, and purples, accompanied by black, gold, silver, chrome and stainless steel or softer creams and beiges to soften up your AfroGlitz look. Softer colors are perfect for bedrooms and dining rooms and will enable you to use any pieces in these colors you already have.

  • FABULOUS FABRICS

Fabrics of a solid color or in a geometric design are the most used textiles in AfroGlitz interior design. Animal prints (zebra, shark, leopard) as well as leather and velvet there is plenty of choice.

  • DASHING FURNITURE

When it comes to statement AfroGlitz furniture they tend to be large in scale accentuated with gold and chrome borders for dramatic effect. Curvaceous furniture with smooth lines is also prevalent; armchairs in pink velvet in a scalloped design would look captivating alongside your AfroGlitz interior design ideas.

  • FLOORING

Herringbone and parquet patterns on the floor are a prerequisite for AfroGlitz décor.

If there is no option to replace flooring, enhance these floors with rugs showcasing loud geometric designs.

  • ACCESSORIES AND LIGHTING

The lighting fixtures of AfroGlitz style are mainly adorned with geometric and symmetric patterns.
