AfroNordic in Interior Design

Scandinavian countries have always been known for their simplicity and extreme functionality in their interiors and so have African countries! Both styles draw ideas from nature, hence the use of natural materials such as wood, leather and so many others.

What is AfroNordic Interior Design?

AfroNordic design is rooted in Minimalism. This style forms something magical: neutral color palette, natural furniture, warm textiles and materials, clean lines, minimal decoration, and importance of artwork.

AfroNordic style creates an environment that encourages feelings of warmth, contentment, and coziness and the typical AfroNordic colors are calming and neutral, with palettes sticking to whites, grays, black, browns and blue accents.

How to define AfroNordic?

  • AfroNordic Furniture

The furniture is elegant and sober, without unnecessary frills. Furniture is naturally in dark wood or leather. AfroNordic style furniture combines comfort, ergonomics, and aesthetics. The functionality of a piece of furniture is essential when designing.

  • AfroNordic Colors

In terms of colors, soothing and neutral are key so white, beige predominate in several variations, followed by different shades of gray, brown, black, blue and pastel colors. The color palette makes the house look airy and open.

  • AfroNordic Fabrics and Materials

AfroNordic design uses fabrics and raw materials found in nature.

When it comes to motifs and patterns, AfroNordic decor keeps it simple. Geometric motifs are the norm with cross motifs, straight lines, mini chevrons, and other geometric patterns perfect for cozy homes.

Curtains and textiles are not opaque, but rather light to let the light through and plants and flowers will add a pop of color. Finally the artistic pieces of home decor will be there to inspire originality.

  • AfroNordic Lighting

A small AfroNordic space will appear spacious, clean, and beautiful because white and other light neutral colors enhance the refractive property of light.

Walls are adorned with paintings or posters, sometimes graphic and colorful, other times more discreet looks

Other materials are added to the AfroNordic style accessories such as metal, copper, and brass. We can complete with lamps of geometric shapes in copper or ball shapes.
